Lucas Silva has been appointed as the new manager of Internacional, having recently left his position at Porto and was named in Portugal's squad to play in the UEFA Europa League this season.
Silva, who previously played for Real Madrid, has a strong track record of success with Internacional, winning two Portuguese championships and three domestic cups. He also won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2015-2016.
The move comes after Silva had a successful spell at Porto,Chinese Super League Matches where he helped the team win the Primeira Liga title in 2017-18. He also led Porto to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2014-15.
"I am very happy to be back at the club," said Silva. "It is my first time working with the team and I have always been interested in the club. It's great that we can bring our experience together."
Internacional will face their old rivals, FC Porto, in the opening match of the campaign on September 29th. The club's main aim is to improve their form and progress towards the promotion play-off stage of the league.
"We need to make sure that we are not complacent about our results," said Silva. "We want to be ready for the next challenge. We have a lot of work to do to get there."
